Ultrasound can be an excellent tool to determine which body structure is affected. Ultrasound does not harm the body and is therefore safe to use for any complaint. Ultrasound therapy also has limitations: it cannot assess structures in a joint or deep structures.
Suspicion of a muscle or tendon complaint is a common reason to make an ultrasound. Ultrasound is also used if a bursitis or bone fracture is suspected.
We have three in our practice fysiotherapists who have completed the ultrasound for the musculoskeletal system (MSU) course. Each branch has one fysiotherapist who can do an ultrasound. We do not charge extra for this - the ultrasound is invoiced by us as separate fysiotherapeutic consultation.
Treating you fysioThe therapist tells you whether an ultrasound is useful and then makes an appointment with a colleague who is authorized to make an ultrasound.
The results and follow-up treatment will be discussed with you.
