Ultrasound works through sound waves and can be used in any situation (including during pregnancy) to visualize and analyze soft tissue damage in the body.
In addition to ultrasound, we also offer other treatment options. For an overview click here.
Ultrasound can be an excellent tool to determine which body structure is affected. Ultrasound does not harm the body and is therefore safe to use for any complaint. Ultrasound therapy also has limitations: it cannot assess structures in a joint or deep structures.
Suspicion of a muscle or tendon complaint is a common reason to make an ultrasound. Ultrasound is also used if a bursitis or bone fracture is suspected.
In our practice we have three physiotherapists who have completed the ultrasound course for the musculoskeletal system (MSU). Each location has a physiotherapist who can make an ultrasound. We do not charge extra for this - the ultrasound is declared by us as a separate physiotherapy consultation.
Your treating physiotherapist will tell you whether an ultrasound scan would be useful and will then make an appointment with a colleague who is authorised to perform an ultrasound scan.
The results and follow-up treatment will be discussed with you.

Intake
During the intake, your physical problem will be mapped out on the basis of an interview and a physical examination.
Treatment
During the consultation where the ultrasound is made, it usually becomes clear whether there is damage to the soft tissues or bone structures. After that, the rehabilitation starts or we consult the general practitioner about the follow-up process.
Homework exercises
After an ultrasound, you may be given homework exercises in consultation with your treating physiotherapist.
Follow-up appointment
If necessary, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled with the physiotherapist. During this appointment, a short evaluation will take place and rehabilitation will begin.
