Isokinetic strength test

This test is frequently performed for back, shoulder and knee complaints. It is a test of strength in which the muscles around the joint or back are subjected to maximum stress. The treating fysioThe therapist determines whether that burden is justified. The test is performed if you have been revalidating with us for some time.

If a prosthesis has been placed (knee or shoulder prosthesis) you are not eligible for this test. However, we can analyze the muscle force around the joint in a different, less stressful way.

The shoulder test tests the muscles around the shoulder joint (internal and external rotators), the knee test tests the quadriceps and hamstrings, and the back test focuses on the back and abdominal muscles. The outcome of the test will be incorporated into your rehabilitation process.

If necessary, the test is repeated in due course to chart the progress of the rehabilitation and to adjust the exercise program if necessary.

Please note: the device on which the isokinetic strength test is performed is only available at our locations in Delft and The Hague at the sweelinckplein. The back test can only be performed in The Hague.

How does it work?

If you do the isokenetic strength test, it is important that you have warmed up first: come to the practice by bike or arrive ten minutes earlier to start cycling on the exercise bike (for a knee test) or the rowing machine (for the back or shoulder test). After the warm up you take place on the Cybex device. In the shoulder and knee test, we always start with the unaffected side of the body. The injured side is then tested. The fysiotherapist who takes the test guides you step by step. The results of the test will be discussed afterwards.

Treatment - exercise therapy - 01

Exercise therapy

During the exercise therapy we look for shortcomings and/or limitations that are present at that moment: mobility, balance, coordination, strength endurance, strength and speed. They differ per individual. You therefore receive exercise therapy that is tailored to your needs.

Shoe advice: gait analysis - 01

Gait analysis and/or shoe advice

During the gait analysis, your old shoes will be assessed. You have to walk up and down in front of the camera a few times to film and analyze your walking pattern. You then walk barefoot in front of the camera several times and, if necessary, in corrected shoes to judge the difference. The gait pattern is then assessed frame by frame to determine whether there is compensation from the feet, knees and/or hip/pelvis and appropriate shoe advice can be given.

Manual therapy

The aim of manual therapy is on the one hand to improve the functioning of the joints and on the other hand to improve your posture and movements. To this end, the manual therapist uses a number of specific techniques that can be applied in the joints.
