We often use manual therapy for neck and back problems. Manual therapy can also be of added value for other joint problems. In addition, you should practice yourself to optimize the effect of this therapy.
In addition to manual therapy, we also offer other treatment options. Click below for an overview of our treatment options.
In order to call yourself a manual therapist, you must first have completed the specialization Manual Therapy, a three-year master's program. We currently have four manual therapists in our practice, spread across all locations. A fifth physiotherapist will soon start this training.
We use manual therapy for back and neck complaints, but the treatment method is also extremely effective for other joint complaints. The aim of manual therapy is to improve the functioning of joints and to improve posture and movement(s).
When you are under treatment with the manual therapist, you will also receive homework exercises to maintain the effectiveness of the therapy. If the manual therapist has made a joint more mobile, this improved mobility must be optimized at home. If you do not exercise or exercise too little, the mobility will decrease.

Intake
During the intake, your physical problem will be mapped out on the basis of an interview and a physical examination.
Treatment
During a manual therapy treatment, the affected joint will be assessed and treated. The duration of the treatment is approximately 20 minutes.
Homework exercises
After a treatment you will receive homework exercises to optimize the effect of the treatment.
Follow-up appointment
If necessary, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled. During this follow-up appointment, the previous treatment is briefly evaluated.
During the gait analysis, your old shoes will be assessed. You have to walk up and down in front of the camera a few times to film and analyze your walking pattern. You then walk barefoot in front of the camera several times and, if necessary, in corrected shoes to judge the difference. The gait pattern is then assessed frame by frame to determine whether there is compensation from the feet, knees and/or hip/pelvis and appropriate shoe advice can be given.
