The emergence

From the outset, the emphasis in practice was on active rehabilitation, in which the patient plays an emphatic role in his own recovery. That philosophy – 30 years later – is still leading today Fysioplein. The physiotherapists worked intensively with orthopedic surgeons from the start, initially focusing on knee rehabilitation. Moreover, Dirk Jan de Jong was one of the first at the time to understand the importance of proper sports footwear in connection with complaints and injuries. The shoe advice has also remained the same throughout the years.

In 1998 the practice moved to the Sweelinck health centerplein in The Hague. This is where the collaboration with general practitioners and sports doctors came about, which has remained to this day and has become one of the spearheads of Fysioplein has grown. A branch was opened in Delft in 2002 at the request of Orthopedium (the current Bergman Clinics). In 2020, a third location followed in the Bergman Clinics Rotterdam, located near Rotterdam The Hague Airport. Thanks to the collaboration with the International Health Center IHCH, a (fourth) location has now been opened on Jan van Nassaustraat in Benoordenhout in The Hague.

Fysioplein has had intensive cooperation with the police Haaglanden for 25 years - in 2012 a separate consultation hour was even started in the Ypenburg district of The Hague. Thereby Fysioplein 30 years closely involved in the guidance of various sports clubs. Currently these include HRC in The Hague and the Delft football club Wippolder.

Innovation is without a doubt the most important pillar of Fysioplein. For example, the possibility is currently being investigated of jointly assessing patients with orthopedic surgeons and general practitioners in order to arrive at integrated treatment advice. In that sense Fysioplein, which now has 13 physiotherapists with various specialisms, and has been innovative and groundbreaking for over a quarter of a century.
