Did you break your wrist?

If you have broken your wrist, it is very important to start physical therapy as soon as possible. Ask your doctor when this is possible. The doctor determines when the wrist is 'exercise stable'.
During surgery, the fracture is stabilized and the healing process begins, whether or not in combination with plaster.

Once the fracture has healed sufficiently and the arm can be removed from the cast, physiotherapy is started.
Our primary concern is to improve wrist mobility. Then the load capacity is trained.

Revalidation

Your rehabilitation is specifically aimed at the (sports) goals you have set yourself.
The first phase of recovery after a wrist fracture is aimed at improving the mobility of the wrist through exercise therapy. Manual therapy, Mulligan concept and taping can also be used additionally.
The second phase consists of exercise therapy to increase the load capacity of the wrist. In this phase, strength endurance and strength are trained.
Subsequently, you will be trained to be able to resume your sport in a responsible manner, if that is your goal. Attention is also paid to explosiveness such as throwing and catching.

Intake

During the intake, your complaint after a wrist fracture will be mapped out on the basis of an interview and a physical examination.

Treatment plan

After the intake, a treatment plan is drawn up and discussed. It tells you what the best treatment is for you.

Treatment

If you have had a wrist fracture, you will be treated according to our care plan. The care plan has been specially developed for these complaints and shows good results.

Measuring moments

Tests are taken at fixed times and questionnaires are completed to monitor your rehabilitation. The outcome is evaluated and the treatment plan adjusted if necessary.

Treatments after a wrist fracture

After the intake, exercise therapy and, if necessary, the Mulligan concept and/or manual therapy can be started quickly. You can also choose to tape your wrist. Dry needling can be used after a wrist fracture if there is increased muscle tension in the muscles around the wrist joint that delays rehabilitation.
