The duration of the treatment of a knee sprain strongly depends on the goals you set for yourself and whether there is damage to the structures in and around the knee joint. Read more on this page.
Have you 'bent your knee?' Make an appointment here to determine what is wrong with your knee.
Have you had a sports (trauma) to your knee and is the knee swollen and/or painful? Then it is advisable to have the knee examined by one of our physiotherapists. It is very important to determine whether damage has occurred to the structures in or around the knee, such as a meniscus tear, anterior cruciate ligament rupture or other affected structures.
If damage is suspected in or around the knee, the GP will be contacted in consultation with you to ask whether you can be assessed by an orthopedic surgeon. If the physiotherapist has not found any damage, physiotherapy can then be started.
Your rehabilitation is specifically aimed at the goals you formulated. The first phase focuses on getting the pain and swelling under control. Then comes strength training. Finally, the step to sports-related exercises follows.
During the intake, your knee problem will be mapped out on the basis of an interview and a physical examination.
After the intake, a treatment plan is drawn up and discussed. It tells you what the best treatment is for you.
If you have knee problems, you will be treated according to one of our care plans. This care plan has been specially developed for knee complaints and shows good results.
Tests are taken at fixed times and questionnaires are completed to monitor your rehabilitation. The outcome is evaluated and the treatment plan adjusted if necessary.
In principle, individual agreements are made with you. As soon as the knee allows you to start practicing in our exercise room, we will get to work with you. This will be done in groups, with a maximum of three people in the group.

During rehabilitation after a knee sprain, in addition to exercise therapy, your walking pattern (if you want to play sports) is also examined and an appointment is made for shoe advice. Good shoes are essential to prevent a new knee injury. If you have the right shoes, we will look specifically at your walking pattern. One of our physiotherapists will provide special walking training. You will then be guided in phases in resuming your sport.
