Do you have heel spur complaints?

Heel spur complaints present themselves on the underside of the foot at the height of the heel bone.
It is an overload complaint of the tendon plate that runs from the heel to the forefoot and also determines the arch of the foot.

To get rid of this injury you need to significantly reduce the load. Wearing an insole can reduce complaints. We can advise you on the best treatment strategy for your situation.

In addition to reducing the load, you must also practice to improve the load capacity of the foot, often stretching exercises in combination with strength exercises.

Footwear is also important for recovery. Shoes that do not suit your type of foot can lead to heel spur complaints. In addition, good footwear has a positive effect on other complaints in the foot, ankle, knee and hip.

Heel spur complaints can be easily visualized on the basis of ultrasound. An ultrasound can always be made in consultation with you.

Revalidation

Your rehabilitation is specifically aimed at the goals you set yourself. The first phase is about getting the pain under control, often through a special taping technique. After that, the load-bearing capacity of the foot must be improved. Finally, sport-specific training is given to eventually be able to exercise again without complaints and to be able to perform your activities pain-free in daily life.

Intake

During the intake, your foot problem will be mapped out on the basis of an interview and a physical examination.

Treatment plan

After the intake, a treatment plan is drawn up and discussed. It tells you what the best treatment is for you.

Treatment

The treatment will consist of education, taping, ultrasound, stretching and strength training and a gait analysis in combination with shoe advice.

Measuring moments

Tests are taken at fixed times and questionnaires are completed to monitor your rehabilitation. The outcome is evaluated and the treatment plan adjusted if necessary.

Treatments for heel spurs

A number of treatments are possible to get rid of your complaints. Taping ensures that the tendon plate is temporarily spared, allowing it to recover. Then there is practice (stretching and strength training) in order to improve the load capacity of the tendon plate. Ultimately, your footwear will be looked at critically to prevent recurrence.
To map out heel spur complaints, it can be decided to make an ultrasound of your foot.
