As a result, we have a great deal of knowledge and expertise and experience with rehabilitation after sprains, twisting of joints and joint wear after joint operations, bone fractures and muscle tears. 'Thirty years ago, our vision was revolutionary: active rehabilitation and intensive exercise therapy with the aim of mobilizing - the foundation of sportfysiotherapy. That approach is now commonplace, but it is mainly about the nuances. Exercises should fit your specific patient. So tailor-made. That is why people consciously choose this practice.'

The challenge for me is to guide people in their rehabilitation towards their final goal. This end goal can be sport related, but also function well in daily life. Rehabilitation is tailor-made for me, specified on the goals of the patient.

I myself was always sporty active, but due to my knee problems I had to stop playing hockey and started cycling.

'I am an active athlete, I have practiced short track at a high level. I got injured at the time due to overload. I know what athletes go through in such a period. As frustrating as it is, recovery is a necessary evil. I like to build a relationship with the patient. You stimulate, you motivate - you are not a number coming to rehabilitate.'

'Always communicate clearly: 'This is the plan, that is the timeline and this is what we ask of you.' I urge people to stick to their prescribed exercises, both here in the office and at home. I always insist on adherence to therapy – whether or not the patient himself is responsible for his recovery.'

'It is essential to focus on the patient's self-management. The time of the fysiotherapist who massaged as standard is over, except for a number of specific complaints. An upper leg that is overloaded because someone regularly walks 10 kilometers is not more taxable if I have massaged it. It will undoubtedly feel a bit more pleasant temporarily, but it doesn't offer a structural solution.'
